Recently I noticed a discussion concerning who Bahamians hate or dislike, it’s not a question of who but rather what.
It would appear my Bahamian brothers and sisters hate, with a passion, street lamp-poles, especially those on John F Kennedy Drive. Earlier this year our much-maligned Ministry of Works replaced at least 60 probably nearer 100 lamp-poles on JFK Drive, today after a trip to the airport I noted 20 but likely closer to 30 poles have, already, been destroyed or seriously damaged.
It would appear there is a new Friday and Saturday night sport called: “how many lamp-poles can you knock down without serious damage to yourself?”
It is probable that some practice runs were made in a local bar just before the attempts.
Surely one is forced to wonder if this action might lend truth to the rumour that some 20,000 driver’s licences were not legitimately earned through passing any driving test but rather “purchased through the back door.”
One does have to ask
Thank you,
