When one reads in 2019 that The Bahamas GDP Per Person is now lower than 2007, a rethink is vital.
There are indicators like a market economy, lower taxes and regulation, Government debt to GDP of say 40% and the rule of law that help nations do well. Oh one not so minor point, these nations more often than not have educational systems that work as they should.
One quick example form 2007 is the Irish Miracle.
Back then The Nassau Institute (Ralph Massey) asked, "Can The Bahamas import the Irish Miracle?" in a short article that described how the Irish turned the corner to become a "Miracle".
If you want to dig a little deeper The Nassau Institute published and essay by Ralph Massey entitled The Caribbean Tiger: A Development Strategy for The Bahamas.
If I have just one wish for The Bahamas on its 46th Birthday it's that we import an economic miracle.
