The tragedy is not that things are broken. The tragedy is that things are not mended again. ~Alan Paton, Cry, The Beloved Country
I have witnessed elections, as a boy, from 1956. This is the worst that I have ever seen it. Bahamians, both men and women, cussing, and carrying on like savages from the pits of hell.
It is most unfortunate that I do not hear the political leadership admonishing and teaching their supporters, by example and precept, to conduct themselves with dignity and respect.
When one witnesses the level of "debate," "cat calls," the cackling like hens that have laid eggs, the guffaws, unnecessary banging on the desks, lack of decorum, and the lack of the fundamentals good old fashion manners that take place in the Parliament of The Bahamas, one is forced to come to the conclusion that the political leadership, of the country, behaves no better than those whom they lead. Simply put the basic principles of setting the proper example is sorely lacking.
Many have asked me why don't I go into frontline politics. Well, the present situation, personal, and family reasons have made it very clear as to why I will not enter into that rogues gallery.
In the social media, Bahamians are saying the most vile things about each other, those who are leading them, exposing themselves, and displaying crass ignorance for the world to see.
Unfortunately, the young people and impressionable children are drinking from this cup of iniquituos behaviour. Even worse, Social Media has exposed The Bahamas in a manner that cannot be retrieved.
In essence godliness and civility have left or are on their way out of the Bahamian way of life...There is a price to be paid , and unfortunately , that price will be paid for generations to come.
The Bahamas and its people if they ever needed the Lord, they sure do need HIM now!
