When, oh when, might we expect a modicum of honesty from of political classes?
Earlier this week the leader of the opposition, “Brave” Davis was up on his high-horse again bitching and moaning that under “this” FNM the price of electricity has risen in excess of 10 cents per Kilowatt Hour.
Actually, Mr. Davis, you, of all people, know full well that BEC/BPL’s static costs to produce electricity have been pegged for many years; unfortunately, what the BPL, and most governments, cannot control is the cost of fuel oil.
From the beginning of 2015 until Mr. Davis and his PLP was unceremoniously booted from government the average weekly cost of West Texas crude oil was $46.96 per barrel.
From the May, 2017 election date until now the average price of that same barrel of oil has risen to $58.56.
Hence that moving figure on our BPL bills called “fuel surcharge” is the cause of Mr. Davis’ 10 cent increase in our bills.
Please Mr. Davis do try to add just a touch of honesty to your reports to we the people, then we can really judge the pros and cons of our two political parties.
Thank you
Harry Strachan
