With an economy for goods as open as ours one would have thought that the out dated public policy of price controls would have been abandoned decades ago like in most countries. But for some reason, every so often, the price control boogie man gets trotted out to "save" the consumer.
To think that in 2019 the government believes they have to coddle Bahamian consumers as if they cannot think for themselves and shop elsewhere or overseas, ("foreign" as we say), is to invite ridicule of themselves and their suggestion they can control the price of goods.
What they can do is coerce the Bahamian entrepreneur to lose money on certain goods and services in this high cost of doing business atmosphere. No more. No less.
