Please allow me a little more space in your esteemed publication to harangue the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Phillip Davis on his continuation of Mrs. Martin’s diatribe against the Post Office.
Mr. Davis, it is very strange that there is this sudden need for postal services for Businesses and the Commercial Sector and grudgingly, I guess, for Joe Public when the PLP is in Opposition.
Mr. Davis; you, Mr. Christie and Mrs. Martin had two five year terms in government to provide this so urgently needed government service, pray tell why didn’t the PLP and Mrs. Martin, on her first day in Office in 2002, find a good building and start conversions immediately bearing in mind how urgently needed the Post Office was?
I must further add that your comment stating Minister Symonette will be benefitting financially, I think, could prove very difficult. The last I heard on this matter was the government, and by extension, we the people, would be paying a notional figure of $12 per square foot for rental of the property and Minister Symonette, and his brother, would be paying for all the renovations out of their own pockets, not a great money-making venture, me thinks.
Perhaps we could demand Mr. Davis join Mrs. Martin and both keep their traps tightly shut on Post Office matters.
Thank you,
Harry Strachan
