Thank you Bruce Raine for stepping forward and supporting the values of truth and honesty in your recent post.. So many of our fellow Bahamian countrymen have become outright compliant and have adopted a "what will be will be" attitude when it come to our national credibility and the future of the country we hold so dear..
Last May the Bahamian people, exercising their democratic constitutional right, threw out the Authoritarian government of crime, corruption and cronyism, by electing a new government promising hope and honesty to govern our nation.. For the Bahamian voter, it was simply a choice between reestablishing national integrity or more continuation of the same old privileged class corruption.. In a landslide victory, the Bahamian people voted for the principles of integrity and a new government was formed.. The scene was set for a new awakening of political honesty and hopefully a new era for economic recovery and growth.. Today the people are still waiting patiently, but are only being thrown policy "bits and pieces" and not the needs for dynamic change that is so desperately required to dig our way out of a decade of economic stagnation..
Tim Rider address was not only set in personally courage but was a loud wake up call to a nation and government that has been sound asleep.. Yes, we don't like criticism even when it is a statement founded in truth.. Desperate man, with their false faces and lacking merit, will react in outright rejection of honest criticism.. This has become the level of political contamination to which we have fallen.. Are we so ashamed of constructive criticism that our only recourse is to attack the gallant messenger who dared to speak out what he believes to be truth??
The cards are now an open hand on the table and it is time for our PM to formulate and act in a prudent manner to establish an aggressive policy to restructure government and establish a New Economic Policy or economic course of action.. Expertise must be drawn forth from all knowledgeable segments of Bahamian society.. The establishment of an Economic Advisory, limited to three applied economic experts, must organized to counsel and directly assist the PM.. The establishment of this advisory Council can only elevate and add to the country's financial credibility in the long run..
No longer can our PM be permitted to be exposed to fraudulent, fantasy investment schemes which call into question our nation's credibility and reputation.. We must move forward to reestablish our financial integrity and respectability so that legitimate foreign investment proposals are carefully evaluated, and that in turn, Bahamian proposals to foreign institutions for financial services will be respected.. Many valid requests today are being rejected without review because these financial institutions choose to reject and not to do business with Bahamian citizens and corporate entities.. Regretfully in these cases our financial reputation always seems to proceeds us..
It is time the FNM government to take charge and move the country forward.. The former government was only deficit driven increasing the nation's debt and debasing our dollar currency's purchasing power.. If we as a nation are to survive as a sovereign nation then this fiscal imprudence must stop.. We must stop listening to the IMF Keynesian tax (VAT) and deficit spending recommendations which are an economic formula for long run collapse and failure.. Where in this World has such Keynesian advise ever bailed out a faulting economy?? Nowhere is the answer..
Time to reverse the Bahamian nation's course and emphasize economic growth, the only formula that can pull the economy out of perpetual stagnation and revive our embarrassing Credit Rating.. We made the political change last year and now it is the time to be open and honest with the people and move forward with the massive political and economic challenges that confront our country..
