I saw a headline in one of today’s (30 March) dailies and I quote “PM: Not a dollar of VAT wasted” I must beg to differ I would suggest EVERY dollar of VAT has been wasted!
I am very intrigued by the PM’s statement of where all the $1billion plus (apparently) has been spent or absorbed, because it is accepted, around the world, that VAT is the single most expensive tax to set-up and administer, to the extent that the first two years of income from VAT will be used to cover those expenses.
So, Mr. Prime Minister, perhaps you might like to “come clean,” and tell us how much those costs were and where did those funds come from … oh, sorry, I know … the Consolidated Fund??!!!
