Why is it that nobody in the Lower House or the Senate is prepared to accept that, as things stand, NHI will be an unmitigated disaster? Here is an idea, ALL members of both Houses are required to give up their private health care insurances and utilize, exclusively, the Princess Margaret Hospital and the public health clinics for any and all health problems. Perhaps then they might realize what people are trying to tell them , that they will be waiting anywhere in the National health system clinics and surgeries for hours on any one day and when NHI is implemented that wait time will become days just to see a doctor for an examination.
I heard Frank Smith suggesting that the Public Health Authority must move into the 21st. century; sorry Frank please tell me again when, exactly, did it crawl out of the 19th. century?
One final point, please cease and desist, immediately, from making the crass statements, in the news or in advertisements, that with NHI health-care will be free. Nothing is “free” all that will happen is there will be no demand for cash at the point of service, but we all will be paying through dramatically increased taxes.
Best bet, don’t get sick or old ….
