Watching this fabulous Uncommon Knowledge interview with Christopher Buckley recently it set the mind wondering about the upcoming US elections and their choice of candidates for the GOP and the DNC.
Oddly enough, Mr. Buckley has opined in his elegant prose on both Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Trump.
In a fascinating opinion piece from 2000 entitled, Trump: The Inaugural, it’s rather prescient. I quote from the opening paragraph:
“My fellow Americans, This is a great day for me personally. You’re very smart to have voted for me because I’m going to do positive things for this country, starting with this mall I’m looking out over.”
Turning his sights on Mrs. Clinton back in May entitled “Think Americans are angry now? Wait until Hillary’s in charge”, he says:
“Safe bet-wise: the first Mrs President is going to be very, very good for the Clinton Foundation. As for America, not so much. A lot has been written about how fed up people are with the arrogance and corruption of Washington. That’s why so many are voting for Donald Trump. But if you think Americans are angry now, just wait until they suffer a full term of Clinton 2.”
You might also enjoy this brief interview with Mr. Buckley on CBS This Morning where he denounces Trump’s style. He was both pithy and elegant.

If I were American I don't think I could muster a vote for either of Clinton or Trump.
However, I could vote Libertarian Party and Gary Johnson and William Weld…
In any event Mr. Buckley is always worth a read.
