The latest in a full throttled series of corruption allegations dating back to the last administration right on up to the revelations yesterday by the Auditor General that some $4.2 million and more is in question at Social Services, leading into very high handed language from the Speaker of The House of Assembly condemning a recent Supreme Court Order regarding Parliamentary privilege all leave your head reeling.
Yet there appears to be no level headed leadership coming from the political class.
Shouldn’t the Prime Minister address the nation?
How about the Police pressing charges in the Social Services matter?
What about asking for cooler heads to prevail in the House of Assembly?
Parliament may very well have have its own checks and balances, as mentioned by Dr. Major, but why didn’t he see the wisdom in using them when private e-mails were read in Parliament? Is that what he means by Parliament being “messy”?
Why isn’t he demanding Parliamentarians show the respect they wish to receive?
For far too long matters like the above have been swept under the carpet and the status quo continues apace.
It’s long past time for a leader to emerge.
The air is heavy with angst among the taxpayers. It’s a sinking feeling of dread.
If things are not brought under control it might not be long before the last person leaving the country will have to turn off the lights.
