In recent weeks and months, the anti business tone from the present government while sounding ominous and threatening, it's an obvious sign of desperation.
Most people remember all the glowing words in the PLP's Charter for Governance and speeches prior to being elected to govern in 2012. And, most people now see, as my father used to tell me, how paper will lie still and let you write anything on it.
Remember these emotive sentiments?
"Every PLP candidate has personally pledged to do whatever is possible to help move the country“ upward, forward and onward…together.” Rekindle a broader commitment to increasing higher standards throughout society. Competition from around the world is real and must be met with world-class standards of excellence. Use the abundant resources God has blessed us more fully and responsibly. This Charter for Governance offers new and innovative solutions for a wide range of challenges facing the nation, and reflects the Progressive Liberal Party’s belief that the next government’s priorities must begin with fighting crime, creating jobs, and securing our borders."
Music to the ears right?
Well just three short years later what do we have?
The government taxing business and the individual through the wazoo.
Ministers of government becoming even more outspoken against private interests.
The Government attempting to foreclose on an investor they encouraged.
The list goes on of course. Maybe you can add to it?
The main problem we face dear readers is an over reaching, all consuming government and untangling the knot will not be pretty.
Also, in the near term I think we can expect more strong arm tactics from a government that was so concerned for all of us, just 36 months ago. Desperate measures for a desperate government?
It seems patently clear the reality of governance is very different than their charter.
