Dear Sir,
One really has to stand in wonderment at the actions of our local petroleum companies. I have maintained a weekly graph, for many years, of the prices of crude oil and can confidently state that this year crude has been almost at its lowest point since 2009, currently Texas crude is trading at about $50/barrel, and yet gas at the pump is not too far from its highest ever here in the Bahamas. In fact I note all three companies have been allowed yet another increase in their pump prices within the past few days to an average of about $4.90, while gas prices in the USA are falling, I hear that gas is at about $2.70 in South Florida! This is truly scandalous. It looks like our government is asleep at the wheel yet again, or is that we idiots, who put our little crosses on the ballot papers, are the fools who pay for the gas in government vehicles and so who gives a sh … err … sorry, toss; I appreciate there may have been some changes in taxation and certain mark-ups but PULEAZE? Some 10 years ago crude oil was priced at $61/barrel and the average price of gasoline at the pump was $3.80. Could someone, therefore, please explain how crude is now some 20% cheaper but the price of our gas is almost 30% higher?
