The Nassau Guardian editorial of March 24, 2015 suggests that Mr. V. Alfred Gray, Minister of Agriculture Marine Resources and Local Government should "resign or be fired" for allegedly interfering in a judicial matter as a minister and MP.
These are serious allegations, to which Mr. Gray has made certain admissions.
Upon hearing the proverbial discussion at the water cooler at break time yesterday there were allegations that this sort of stuff (interference by MPs and ministers of government) has been going on in the Family Islands for years.
If there is only one thing remaining in our country that should be sacrosanct it's be the administration of justice.
Of course the Opposition Free National Movement is calling for Mr. Gray's resignation as he would probably do if the shoe was on the other foot. But in this case he "rejects calls" for his resignation.
Sooner or later, leaders must lead to help reverse the trend of lawlessness in The Bahamas. Tampering with, or giving the appearance of tampering with the administration of justice is simply inexcusable.
The power and responsibilities of the executive, the legislature and the judiciary are clearly defined and separate. There is no gray where this is concerned in the Bahamas Constitution.
