Geoffrey Brown, Guardian Business Reporter informs us that "Prime Minister Perry Christie yesterday welcomed the U.S. government’s decision to ease restrictions for middle-income Caribbean countries seeking financing for renewable energy projects." (More here…)
When I read things like that I cringe.
First of all, our prime minister is looking to get the country further into debt, and
Second, the loans are supposedly for "renewable energy projects".
I'm reminded of a quote from Dr. Thomas Sowell in his book, Race and Culture: A World View.
"Rusting Western machinery and decaying Western factories in many Third World countries, in the wake of massive international aid programs, are a monument to the fallacy of believing that technology transfer is simply a matter of access…"
"Green technology" like wind turbines have been around since 500-900 A.D. and to produce electricity since the late 19th Century. The use of Solar for electricity also started in the late 1800's yet neither of them have displaced other, more reliable, forms of energy for electricity.
And now the U.S. will supposedly provide loans for The Bahamas to get into "green" technologies that are really still developing, at great cost, so we can, in all probability, let them go to "rack and ruin" as we will not maintain them properly.
Heck reports are we can't even maintain equipment that is reliable for producing electricity.
You hear that noise in the distance? That's me weeping for our country.
