I see from the little “advertisements” carried on ZNS TV News that the VAT office is, in effect, lying by omission to the people. The young lady is telling us that because two or three products will be zero rated for VAT then the cost of living will, within two to three years, reduce!
I beg your pardon, the fact that public health care will be zero rated does not counteract all the other goods and services that will be taxable at the full rate, such as private health care, our utility bills, gasoline, legal and accountancy services and some insurance premiums to name just a few. Sorry, but even a blind man can see there will be an increase in our cost of living of some 5% plus.
If this is our government’s idea of education then heaven help us is all I can say!
