Is this the same PLP with its leader, the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie, that stated categorically, when elected in 2012, they would hit the ground running with a definitive crime prevention plan? Well almost two years and 4 months into this government, that same Perry Christie is asking this electorate, for the third time, to give him some new ideas to counteract this ever increasing crime wave!?
Mr. Christie, I have an idea for you, in fact two ideas.
Firstly; to the very best of my knowledge no armaments nor ammunition are manufactured or even assembled in our Bahamaland, or, probably, even in the entire Caribbean, therefore, sir, please open an immediate dialogue with the President of the United States of America, a country that is a major manufacturer of guns and ammunition, not to request but to demand that America does much, much more to seal its borders to the illegal export of these weapons of war; instead of making fun of this little nation of ours by issuing travel warnings to the American public, knowing full-well that the cause of our problems is the United States.
As an aside, have you ever wondered why it is so exceedingly difficult to export a motor vehicle from the United States, but weapons of war, apparently no problem, just drive onto the dock and shove ‘em on board a ship it seems!
Secondly, sir, I would suggest that you closet yourself in your Prime Ministerial Office until you have solved the following three pressing matters: crime prevention, as mentioned above, jobs for our ever expanding populace and the collection of all taxes due, thereby eliminating the need for a disastrous value added tax.
