It wasn’t that long ago – the 1980’s – that this little nation got the very unhealthy title of “A Nation For Sale” because of actions by certain members of the Progressive Liberal Party, the party of the people, and a certain Carlos Lehder, a major international trafficker in illegal narcotics, who bribed his way into the Bahamas and set up shop in the Exuma Cays!
Well it looks as though the people’s party, the PLP, appear to be turning a blind eye to a fashion mogul in Lyford Cay, who, allegedly, is taking tracts of the seabed and then infilling to create a fresh landmass; and there is a second situation whereby the allegedly illegal web-shop bosses are in a, hopefully, futile attempt to legitimise their businesses.
The most unfortunate part in all this is the “People” have not benefitted one iota, but there appear to be some exceedingly wealthy Party faithful!
