This post is really about Pinetop Perkins one of the great Mississippi bluesmen.
What reminded me of Mr. Perkins was listening to Kenny Wayne Shepherd's fabulous cd, Ten Days Out, and the last few tracks included none other than "The Grindin' Man" himself.
I'm sure I've mentioned this before but we got to see Pinetop Perkins live at a jazz and blues festival in Maine several years ago now. He was 87 at the time if I remember correctly and he was still going strong - playing the piano, singing, with an ever present cigarette. In fact I'm proud to say I got his autograph on my Live at 85 cd.
Please visit Kenny Wayne Shepherd's web site here… and the site dedicated to Pinetop Perkins and his Foundation here… Please, please buy some of their music.
By the way Kenny Wayne Shepherd has a new release Goin' Home and it's topping the Amazon Blues chart right now.
Hope you enjoy "Grindin' Man" below.
