Dr. Bernard Nottage (PLP), Minister of National Security, has announced a new plan to help combat crime.
1. 150 police officers will be deployed to the front line as defense force marines will to do the "sedentary and other duties" of police.
2. Police officers serving in administrative and support services will also move to the front line.
3. Increase in the manpower of the firearms unit.
4. More resources for the Homicide Unit of the CDU.
These "initiatives will result in an increase of up to 350 officers on the front lines…"
They also need to focus attention on combatting corruption within the various forces and government agencies that is tarnishing the reputation of the decent and hard working officers and civil servants.
Let's all hope they are successful in bringing the scourge of crime and corruption under control.
