When we were in Memphis earlier this month we got to see Mavis Staples, yes, from the famous Staple Singers at the Beale Street Music Festival, and man what a treat it was.
I apologise for the photo, but it's about the best one I was able to take.
She can still belt it out and has a new CD coming out in June produced by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy.

Check out the video of Ms. Staples doing her fathers (Pops Staples) song Freedom Highway, popularised during the Civil Rights marches in the US. What a talent she is. We're lucky to have seen her.
