Most people that read this blog know by now that I am not a believer in the mystical power of a Cabinet Minister to know any and every thing that goes on but just a couple months ago, the political party of the present Minister of Health seemed to believe that his predecessor had them.
Now in the wake of a tragedy at the Princess Margaret Hospital, (Nassau Guardian, Infection causes baby deaths at PMH, July 28, 2012) Dr. Gomez is suggesting the public was not notified sooner because the report was not provided by the PMH staff until after Parliament sat.
I know that apologising for our short comings is the most difficult task many of us face, but sometimes petty politics should be left out of matters such as these. Step up to the plate, take the fast ball and make your statement.
None of us are perfect, but to blame the hospital staff does not show much leadership. If the doctors, nurses and administrators are at fault there should be some internal disciplinary action, but a public condemnation does not show superindtendence in this bloggers not so humble opinion.
And the final blow so to speak, he tells the press that he's too busy to speak with them on his Sunday! That's a joke right?
I would not want his job to be sure, but once in the position, you must take the good with the bad.
One can only imagine the lecture Mr. Bradley Roberts would be giving if a Minister from the former government had made such comments?
