I over heard a brief discussion recently about how our tax system in The Bahamas must change (to a variation of a Value Added Tax) as the government needed the revenue.
The conversation, albeit short, never once turned to government spending nor how they would decrease other taxes.
It seems patently obvious to me that the discussion going forward must include taxing, spending and how other tax rates need to amended as a result of the introduction of any additional taxes.
