William Bratton, the former Police Commissioner in New York City, credited for cleaning up New York's crime problems in the mid 1990's, was in town recently for a consultation with Bahamian Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade and the Cabinet of The Bahamas Government.
Since it's election season though, some politicians are out already suggesting it's too little and too late and stating we do not need foreigners here to help etc. But should Mr. Bratton provide one useful idea the exercise would be worth it, so this consultation is both honourable and timely.

It would be interesting to learn how many of the naysayers were educated, worked, or even read books from abroad? In other words, humans thrive with interaction and societies flounder without it.
If there is one central role of the government it is the protection of its citizens from harm with a Police force and Judicial system and it's unconscionable that some people would object to our Police getting ideas from other people and countries.
