Many of us are prone to blaming the political directorate when we don't think things are just right in the country. This could be as a result of that same political class trying to make us believe they can fix all of our problems if we only elect them. And so we find ourselves continually chasing rainbows.
We blame the political directorate for crime. We say the Police are corrupt. We say the politicians should fix education. Yet when attempts are made to set priorities right in these areas we shout political victimisation or worse.
Let's take education for a moment.
Those teachers that are failing to teach can't be fired.
Parent's might need to spend a little more time dealing with their children's educational issues.
If the school administration does not seem to be responding, how about a parent sit in to send a message to the school teachers and administration?
How about crime.
We're all in fear of crime yet we do not hear of neighbourhood associations popping up to support the Police with their efforts.
Just take the service we give each other or the abusive way we speak to each other as examples. Who do we blame this on?
We need a little more than political rhetoric or the hope that there's a magic wand out there to fix things for us.
The political class, like the rest of us, are not perfect, but we really need to take personal stock once in a while if not we'll continue to bark at our own shadows.
