The debate over the amendments to the Parliamentary Elections Act has been less than stimulating, but one thing for sure, it seems to have awakened a couple of Opposition MP's from slumber.
One is suggesting that the Boundaries Commission is not such a good idea and could even lead to, might I suggest, gerrymandering.
And another now thinks there should be campaign finance reform.
If my numbers are correct, the Official Opposition, was the governing party for 30 of the last 44 years yet they did not see the need to make these changes.
What's the moral of the story?
Well, there are two from what I see:
- Opposition politics makes one say almost anything to win an election.
- When you become the Government you contract severe memory loss.
That great old Bahamian saying comes to mind.
"How they could fix their mout to say tings like dat?"
