Rick Lowe
Well after many years we got to see Pat Rahming live again reading his poetry and singing his songs - and a couple songs by other artists as well.
He pretty much covered the waterfront of his repertoire: Package Deal, The Politician, Special Kind'a Lady, Long Island Breeze, Der Race Track and his encore was the ever popular Bain Town Woman and more.
A four piece band included Adrian D'Aguilar on Bass, Neil Symonette on Drums and Percussion, JR on the Synthesiser and of course Pat Rahming on Acoustic Guitar. So the music was second to none and the songs and poetry made you think as usual while tapping your feet and singing along in great enjoyment.
The evening was sponsored by the Rotary Club of West Nassau, in aid of Programme SURE that helps guide young men in the gardens of Orry J. Sands Insurance on Shirley Street.
I stumbled across this interview with Mr. Rahming at What's On Bahamas. Hope you can take the time to read it.
If Mr. Rahming reads this blog, I have one question for him. "Did you ever play the Place Des Arts in Montreal?"
All in all a fabulous evening that will not be forgotten any time soon.
By the way, you can contact Mr. Rahming through his web site at this link... to find out where to buy not only his CD but one of his three books.
Hope you enjoy Mwale from his Retrospective CD below, that Mr. Rahming describes in the liner notes as is a song about his History.
It amazes me how one person can be an architect, a poet, a singer, a songwriter, a musician and a performer, and be so accomplished at all of them. Amazing and wonderful.
Thanks West Nassau Rotary and Mr. Rahming.
