For a few months I have been working on a brief essay about the Abaco Independence Movement.
Part I was released by The Nassau Institute in July and Part II was posted during October. See this link... for copies.
And now The Tribune has released both parts as Insight Columns!
Click here... for Part I, and here... for Part II.
I'm grateful to Mrs. Carron, publisher of The Tribune and Mr. Nunez, news editor, for giving the essay more exposure than I imagined was possible.
While I'm at it, I must also thank Mr. Norwel Gordon for the use of his archives, Mr. Richard King for his extensive file and Mr. Adrian Day and Mr. Chester Thompson for their valuable insight. I must also thank The Tribune for their wonderful archives, and of course I can't forget Mr. Larry Smith for his expert editing.
I came away from this experience with an enhanced respect for editors and writers, that write 3,000 word articles each and every week. It's hard work.
If I have one concern it's the Department of Archives has very little information or photos of this most interesting event in Bahamian history.
