I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Bruce Yandle of the Mercatus Center make two presentations on Thursday past. One at the College of The Bahamas, and the other for a Nassau Institute event.
One of the very intriguing charts he included in his presentation for the students was a map of the United States breaking "down that gigantic US GDP into the GDP's of individual states, and compare those to other countries GDP."
When you see the map below it will become quite clear why when the US economy sneezes our economy catches pneumonia as the old saying goes. In fact, you can see why the world in the trouble it's in at the moment.
