I’ve been led to believe that Tommy Turnquest is upset at the Tribune because they print nothing but Crime, especially on the front page.
I’ve been away for a few days, so did not read any of this for myself, but let us assume that it is true.
I wonder if he realizes that half the crime that does happen isn’t reported, because it isn’t even reported to the police!
The vast majority of the population have no faith left whatsoever in anyone being held accountable for almost any crime committed, and even less faith left for the courts of the country.
And our perturbed friend is a part of the problem as he is a part of the system that long ago undermined the rule of law in the Bahamas.
Vigilantism is alive and well here, and one can never be sure if any issues one may have placed in the hands of law enforcement is being treated with due diligence, or is being quashed for no reason other than complicity or fear for self.
I have refrained from speaking out lately, as I see no magic pill in fact, I see no effort at changing strategy in order to regain the safety of our street for law abiding citizens, but this pseudo indignation displayed by one who should at least have the sense to keep his mouth shut only serves to highlight the horrific truth:
They have no clue.
