Great news!
With all the negative press about capitalism lately, it appears Cuba might have finally come to the conclusion that Castro's brand of Marxism is not such a good idea after all.
According to this BBC News piece, Cuba is set "to abolish its system of equal pay for all and allow workers and managers to earn performance bonuses..."
Apparently the vice-minister for labour in that communist state has said the current system is no longer convenient and the change should improve production and services.
To paraphrase Winston Churchill: I cannot forecast to you the action of Cuba. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is the Cuban regimes self-interest to maintain power.
Although predictions are "...the impact in terms of purchasing power will be limited..." it is great to see Cuba forced to abandon the ideas of The Cuban Revolution of 1959.
Maybe, no, hopefully her people will come to know freedom in my lifetime.
