On Thursday of this week, Mr. Gus Outten, an earth moving contractor decided that since he had not received a contract from Albany, a development at the South Western end of New Providence, he would take the law into his hands and block the road way.
According to press reports, he would not move, even though the Police came to the scene.
The greatest irony of all reportedly happened. Believe it or not, someone from Albany came to meet with him and promised to review their contract offerings for next year so more local contractors might be included in the project.
First of all, Mr. Outten would be the last person that should get a contract in view his illegal action. Imagine what he would be like if he has a disagreement with the foreman should he get a job.
In my not so humble opinion, the people at Albany, whether they are good or bad, should never have met with Mr. Outten while he had the project blocked with his staff and equipment.
Besides, the Police should have made him move, and then he should seek an appointment with the developer to offer his services in a reasonable manner.
This in your face attitude will one day tear our little country asunder.
