A recent article in The Tribune suggests that there are no indications that The Bahamas will face shortages of rice from foreign suppliers in the near future.
And in spite of what is said to be rice shortages, this blog by Tyler Cowen at Marginal Revolution points to the fact that rice production has actually increased. At least for now.
I would caution Bahamian's however, that Price Control regulations just might prevent rice getting on shelves of grocery stores for sale.
If or when this happens, there is no reason to believe that we will react any differently than the French did in 1793.
One wonders why people would believe the rhetoric about price controls rather than the Four Thousand Years of Price Control facts?
