Christopher Hitchens, a prolific columnist and author has been on my reading list for sometime.
I've recently read his Thomas Paine's Rights of Man: A Biography and currently reading Why Orwell Matters.
Orwell is said to be 'the twentieth Century's foremost political writer' and whether one agrees with his public policy prescriptions or not Hitchen's style makes it a most enjoyable book.
I've also had economist Tyler Cowen's new book, Discover Your Inner Economist: Use Incentives to Fall in Love, Survive Your Next Meeting, and Motivate Your Dentist on the night table for several weeks now and the holidays have presented the opportunity to crack the cover.
So far (I'm up to chapter 4) it's a great read.
Tyler Cowen is the general director of the Mercatus Center and blogs at Marginal Revolution.
Hope you decide to add these books to your to buy list.
