My sister left to go back home to Abaco on Friday, December 21, 2008 and frankly the plane was fortunate to take off with barely enough light for them to make it to the unlit airstrip in Marsh Harbour.
The next day, my parents arrived, about two hours late from Abaco, as a result of the apparent backlog of planes arriving and leaving the airport here on New Providence.
Having time to observe the planes taking off and landing while waiting for my parents to land, there seemed an inordinate amount of time between incoming planes landing and departing planes taking off, leaving one to wonder if the air traffic controllers are on go slow once again at Christmas time.
I am not one to call for more laws to solve problems but if this in fact the case it should be illegal for air traffic controllers to pull this stunt on a vital service to our already ailing tourist industry.
If the air traffic people do not like their jobs they should not hold our most important industry hostage, inconveniencing thousands of foreigners and Bahamians alike.
There are many other jobs they can fill so people interested in their jobs and our travelling public can take over.
Am I missing something?
