Inhumane, barbaric, cruel, reprehensible, cowardly are just some of the words that have been used to describe Michael Vick and the abominable practice of dog fighting. When we hear of losing dogs being drowned, hanged, electrocuted, shot and slammed to the ground until they breathe their last breath, of dogs having their teeth filed for better cutting and putting ground glass in their fur to help in tearing the skin off the opponent I have to believe that the line has been crossed between civility and barbarism.
The first question asked after he was forced to plead guilty of the charges was "how long before he states that he has 'found' God." He broke some sort of record by doing it the same day.
We can only hope that he will get the maximum sentence allowed and that his ban from football is permanent. Extra time should be added for his many months of lying and for making a mockery of religion. It reminds me of the old saying "there are no atheists in foxholes."
It has been reported that he will be forced to lead the authorities to other people and places involved in this dastardly practice. Let us hope that the net is wide enough to cover the Bahamas because I have been reliably informed that it is prevalent in the Bahamas and the police have been informed, yet nothing has been done.
