In The Tribune this morning there was a brief snippet regarding the new FNM government promising to pass laws to make Parliamentarians accountable.
This is good news.
I have been harping on for years about successive governments passing laws to keep citizens in check with jail time and fines etc, yet they have to date ensured they (Parliamentarians) can get away with all and sundry.
If you believe the so-called scandals that are usually enunciated by both major political groups during election season, its about time a government get this situation in hand.
We can give the second cheer when we see suitable legislation presented to both Houses of Parliament for debate and passing and give the third cheer when the Governor-General assents to the Act making it law and thereby making our Parliament accountable.
Maybe one day we will be able to give three cheers for a government over them making themselves, as well as future Parliaments, accountable?
