What is seen and what is not seen.
The nurses have been given an 11% pay raise. Good for the nurses, and they probably could use the money - and we would not question whether they "deserve" it or not. We simply assume they do.
Readers are reminded, that government can give nothing but what it has taken from someone else.
The 11% comes out of "the forgotten man's" pocket, but in our rejoicing for the nurses, we conveniently forget that someone has to do without something so they can get the raise.
The country caught up in the political process of an election should recognize these are dangerous times. The largess of government spending of the people's money for a political outcome - that is re-election of PLP politicians, is a reminder of the disregard government has for that "forgotten man"; the tax-payer.
The free lunch deception is under way full steam now - as government proceeds with the socialization of health services.
Raising the salaries of healthcare workers at this time fools no one who gives serious thought to what is going on. It is just the beginning of the demand for money that will grow and grow larger with each day as the innocent tax payer is left with nothing to say but just to pay up or else.
When more and more discover the feeding trough of free lunch health care look out!!!
Yes, these are truly dangerous times.
God save the Bahamas.
