PM Perry Christie stated in his address to the House of Assembly on the NHI that it is a dire need.
Yes, Mr. Christie there is a need for everyone to have access to health care.
There is however, a dire need for the Government to be be totally honest with the Bahamian people.
There is a dire need for consultations with doctors, insurance brokers and other responsible parties and associations.
There is a dire need for the Government and the BRC to release the information that was used to determine the cost of NHI and how they arrived at the 5.3% tax.
There is a dire need to let the public know exactly what benefits they will be receiving. Or, is the public expected to pay for something on pure faith?
There is a dire need for some degree of maturity to be shown by your ministers when makng a presentation to the House, especially when discussing a bill of this magnitude. Surely any Bahamian listening to them vilifying their doctors, implying that anyone who does not agree with this bill does not care about their fellow citizens and asking for financial statements from anyone who opposes this bill in its present form must be ashamed of their representatives.
Finally, Mr. Prime Minister, there is a dire need in your Government for some Statesmen who think of future generations instead of politicians who think of the next election.
