I have personally been in the audience to hear talks by representatives of two separate companies hired to study and advise on our traffic problems. These talks were about ten years apart.
It is apparent that whatever they advised was ignored because nothing was ever done. Several weeks ago I jokingly commented that it is past time for the Government to have hired another group of consultants (just the hiring must make someone or some people happy - it gives the illusion that something positive is actually being done).
In today's Tribune on page three the Minister of Transportation and Aviation announced with some fanfare that (hip hip hurrah) we are to actually have another study of our traffic problem. I wonder if they have already set the date for when their advise will be refused. After the election would be a good guess.
I think I am going to shed a few tears for my country - I seem to want to do that a lot lately.
