Why is the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce slavishly supporting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a campaign to set up diplomatic missions all over the world?
Can we afford these costs? Has any cost-benefit analysis been done?
Hasn’t the Chamber already established links with Indian commerce? Aren’t we already trading with Indian suppliers?
Businesses trade, not governments - and there is no need to continue to encourage more government intrusion into the market process. Governments should simply set the parameters and move out of the way.
So please Chamber, let's not assist the government in their zeal to justify policies that cost the Bahamian taxpayer more money. Perhaps the voluntary efforts of both Indian and Bahamian business interests will do the trick.
