P.J. O'Rourke is one of our favourite authors. His sense of humour is caustic but spot on.
First released in 1991, it is still just as relevant today.
His opening salvo in Parliament of Whores - A Lone Humorist Attempts to Explain the Entire U.S. Government is: "What is this oozing behemoth, this fibrous tumor, this monster of power and expense hatched from the simple human desire for civic order? How did an allegedly free people spawn a vast, rampant cuttlefish of dominion with tentacles in every orifice of the body politic?"
It is definitely worth the time to read it.
