The report titled 'Bahamian Youth - The Untapped Resource by the so called Coalition for Education Reform, comprising several employer organisations and labour unions of July 2005, has finally hit the press.
This 22 page document is well done and releases some astounding information about the results produced by the country's public educational system.
We finally obtained a copy from The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce today and will digest it over the next few days.
A quick glance at the graph's alone provide enough information to shock the citizens in this country to demand more for their tax dollars. It certainly confirms why employers say that very few applicants can provide the answer to 15% of $150 and other simple arithmetic.
This information is available to the Minister of Education on an annual basis so we are left wondering why it is not released to the public in a timely manner. Maybe successive ministers have been embarrassed by the results, but hiding them will certainly not solve the problem.
