There is huge political fallout smouldering throughout the community over the illegal immigrant (Haitian) issue.
At minimum, the government has to consider the needs of the community for people to do jobs that we as Bahamians no longer want to do while slowing the tide of immigrants.
On top of that, there are many Haitians that have been here for a long time and they make a valuable contribution to the community.
To over simplify this issue, that has taken many years to develop is a real tragedy.
Maybe, just maybe, a simpler work permit process would help alleviate some of the wider problems associated with illegal immigration?
