Development is always a hot topic.
We remember last election when the present government was beating the former government up for their land give-aways to foreign developers. Now the shoe is on the other foot and development continues - as it must.
Demonising developers that happen to have the foresight and guts to risk their capital is not the right approach in our view. If Bahamian’s had the foresight and cared to risk their capital would we be as vitriolic?
The central question is how do we go about development?
Every free country in the world invites Foreign Direct Investment. In our case, it helps us share some of the wealth that is created so we can make investments of our own.
So let’s tone down the ad hominem rhetoric and put ideas forward on an approach to development. Maybe the politico’s will pay attention?
At the end of the day development will and must happen.
