"No more doctors. No more Trouble" Craig Albury
Derek was the fourth of five children born to Frederick and Dorothy Albury. Upon the untimely death of his parents he moved in with his Uncle Ted and Aunt Florence Cole.
His early education was attained at Queen’s College and in 1963 he moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada to attend the School of Watchmaking at George Brown College.
Fulfilling his dream he opened and operated his own jewellery store in Canada for many years.
In 1966 Derek married his first wife, Dorothy Green, originally of Rotherham, England, and moved to Canada at an early age. They had two children, Brant and Craig.
Dorothy passed away in 1975 after a brief illness.
In 1989 Derek moved to Abaco, Bahamas with his two sons, opening a jewellery store that he operated for several years until retiring in 2008.
Derek met his wife Linda in 1988 in Nassau and they married in 1996 in Abaco.
After a short illness Derek passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010 and is survived by his wife Linda, sons Brant and Craig, stepson Randy Pinder two daughters in law, Judy Albury and Heather Pinder and two grand daughters Kirstie and Rhiannon. Derek is also survived by his brothers David and Rex and sisters Joy Boyes and Greta Pinder, two sisters in law Sandra and Judie and one brother in law Hartis Pinder, and several nieces and nephews. Other surviving in-laws include Wayne and Phyllis Lowe, Jim and Julie Cates, Rick & Joanne Lowe and nieces and nephews.
There are numerous family and friends in Marsh Harbour, Nassau, and Canada that space does not permit naming.
Derek was a Mason of the Scottish Rite in Canada and the Carleton Lodge in Marsh Harbour, a Trustee of the FNM Marsh Harbour Association, and a Member of the Scurvy Few Motorcycle Club.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Swarna and the staff at the Marsh Harbour Clinic, Dr. Carter, Dr. Munnings and the staff at the Grosvenor Medical Centre, the nurses and staff at the PMH Private Medical, Kris Wring RN of Nurses Now, and caregivers Jessie Rolle, Bernie Collie and Diane Benson.

Funeral services for Derek Ernest Albury, 65, of Marsh Harbour Abaco, will be held Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 3:00pm at Epworth Methodist Chapel, Cherokee Sound, Abaco, Bahamas.
Rev. Bill Higgs, President BCMC will officiate with the assistance of Rev Carla Culmer.
