So far the contributions of the PLP 'Young Turks' in the House of Assembly on the Consumer Protection Act have been disappointing.
Both John Carey and Michael Halkitis M.P's for Carmichael and Adelaide respectively, stood in support of the Bill and did not offer any constructive criticism of its contents in our view.
We remember all the talk before the last election of how these new members were to change the 'face' of the PLP and a 'New PLP' had been born. Well it is the same old tired anti-business rhetoric. It would not be so bad if they did not come from business and finance backgrounds as they know first hand the problems caused by the dead hand of government intervention into the day to day running of a business.
We await the contribution of the other 'PLP Young Turk' Frank Smith, M.P. for St. Thomas More with much anticipation. Will he offer constructive criticism or just go along to get along?
When will this anti-business sentiment die?
